Elosie Fabian Sucks Rotten Eggs!

My goodness peeps, it can be difficult to keep up with this blogging business on a regular basis.

It's been a couple of weeks since I've written down anything.

So here goes. And this won't necessarily be in time order. I'm just going to spit out the haps of the past few weeks as they flash into my head:

This past weekend my brother got married to his girl of around two years, Amy. The wedding was small (about 40 guests) yet it was incredibly beautiful and a lot of fun. They rented a seven bedroom house right on the beach in Daytona, Florida. Her family, which are all from Minnesota, joined my family in the house for 5 days. We all got along really well and had some nice days and evenings eating, drinking, chatting and playing games.
It was a pitch-in weddding. What I mean by that is that everyone pitched-in to help make it happen. My duties were to create the floral arrangements (including the bouquet), assist with the meal preparations and the hors d'oeuvres girl extraordinnaire. I had to leave the ceremony a little bit early and pop those suckers in the oven and put them on the table. And repeat. And repeat. Until cocktail hour was over and dinner began.
My brother cooked the main dishes (salmon with spinach, zuccini and squash wrapped in fillo dough and steak with some really great sauce that had grapes in it). All I can say is that the food was FABULOUS! Damn. I wish I could eat some now.
We danced and also sang karaoke. I thought I hated karoke until that night. A few drinks in you, and that jive becomes extremely fun. Especially because everyone sings behind you anyway, so yours isn't the only horrible voice being heard. My first song that I sang with Bas was Tainted Love.
The funnest song of the night was Wanted: Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi. Everyone at the wedding was singing at the top of their lungs and really got into it, pointing their fingers, pumping their fists and crouching down to sing even harder. It was great.

Bas and I are finally in our new place, full on. We are trying to get all of our crap unpacked. But because of the careless packing that I foolishly allowed to occur, it's taking longer than I had hoped for. We just packed crap in boxes with very little organization. I have moved probably just over a half-dozen times and I usually don't move like that. I normally pack all things in a box that has a theme such as: dishes, toiletries, belts, picture frames, computer stuff, etc. And I clearly mark it with a black Sharpie. I will even sometime write specific items included in the box. It just makes unpacking much more pleasant. You can say okay..."Next I'm going to unpack this" and BOOM! it's done. With the current mess, I am always looking for stuff and unpacking a box and going from the kitchen to the bathroom, to the bedroom, to the closet....you get the idea. Annoying.

We did but some fish for our fishtank and I've already started to name them.
There's Flash-the mischievious quick swimming hyper yellow one (my favorite).
Sunni-the hyper bright orange one.
Dude-the black and yellow one who was very frightened for the first day.
Pretty Boy-the, well, prettiest one.
Lightning-one of the three black and blue ones that has a name.
The Twins yellow and blue-who used to be The Triplets, but their brother died.
Goldie-the one we were sure was going to die but is still kicking, or swimming actually.

There are still a few who need names and I'll work on that this weekend. I have to save a few for Ean, our son to name too. I promised him.

This week my beloved mother was fired from her nursing job that she had for 26 years! Do I need to say it again for you people to believe it? 26 years, there. Who stays at a job for that long these days?
She is loyal to a fault. She hated the job. She was constantly stressed out. She received advice from co-workers so many times that she should leave that God-forsaken place for better treatment elsewhere and she never took that advice. This is also a woman who was never even written up once since she's been there.
But let me just tell you why those sons-of-bitches fired her. Actually let me publish the name of the main bitch that decided upon this. Eloise Fabian. A low down dirty dog. A snake in the grass. A real piece of heartless shit.
So, as everyone knows, there was a hurricane in Florida. Hurricane Wilma. The one that Bush declared a national disaster. And my parents were truly affected by it. I'm not sure if I already discussed it in this blog, but my parents had a tree in the backyard that is only abount 5 years younger than me. It was huge. It shaded the entire house. It was completely blown down with its roots sticking up in the air. I wish I knew how to put pictures on this stupid site and I would post them. Not that anyone but Anthony reads this blog, but just in case....if you leave me a comment with an email address, I'll send the pictures to you. Anyone who sees it would be like, "WOW!"
Anyway, so they also lost their phone and electricity. Cell phones couldn't be used either because they couldn't be charged. The neighborhood had trees all in the roads which made it impossible to drive anywhere for several days. Gas in the area was low. My brother said the lines for gas were two hours or more long, if you were lucky enough to find a station that had some.
So my mom couldn't make it work, nor could she call in. Her own family couldn't even speak to her during this time. I happened to have known they were still alive because I spoke to them about an hour before the hurricane ended when the cell phones still had juice. I even heard the winds blowing like crazy in the background. I called everyone else in my family to pass on the news that they were okay.
The hurricane was Monday. She was finally able to show up for work on Friday. And she worked.
My brother's wedding was the following week, which she had already scheduled to have off. She came back to work and those bastards called her into the office and lowered the guillotine. They told her it was their "policy" that if you missed two shifts without calling in, it was grounds for immediate termination based on the fact that they will believe you abandoned your job. Don't forget I said she worked the Friday after the hurricane, which would be a pretty clear sign that she didn't abandon anything. They told her she should have found a phone to use somewhere. Jerks.
So, so , so unfair and such bullshit. Really. My mom worked there the longest of anyone. Hardly ever called in sick and was a really hard worker. It was not like her to not come to work unless there was a damn good reason...like, uh, a HURRICANE maybe?
She called her attorney who said she didn't have a case to sue because it is a private hospital and they can do what they want, however they referred her to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). She called the EEOC who said she did have a case with them and they would investigate it. They think that if there was discrimination, it was based on age. My mom is 60 years old. But only looks 50, if I may say so myself. So, she will meet with them next week.
In the meantime, my mom is having these little panic attacks.
It KILLS me. I want to call up that dickhead Eloise and tell her about herself. But I must restrain myself because I could affect the investigation in a negative way.
There is not one person who can read this and disagree that that is not total bull. And that is exactly what happened. It's not a matter of interpretation or someone's side of the story. It's quite simply bull.

Next and last.

We are going to finally buy a car this weekend. Still stuck on a Toyota.
Also, our beautiful couch will be delivered along with our entertainment center and kitchen chairs.
